Bridges Transitions Recognized for Efforts to Improve Student Success in Mississippi
CULVER CITY, CA – JANUARY 12, 2007
The Mississippi State Board of Education honored the outstanding partnership of Bridges Transitions, a XAP Corporation company; Education Services Foundation (ESF); and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security (MDES), at a meeting last month for their collaborative efforts in providing greater student success opportunities in Mississippi.
Supporting the Board of Education’s plan for Redesigning Education for the 21st Century Workforce in Mississippi, this partnership has worked to increase achievement within the state by providing every student with the tools they need to be successful. At last month’s meeting, Dr. Hank Bounds, State Superintendent of Education, presented Certificates of Excellence to Bridges, ESF and MDES.
The Certificate of Excellence presented by Dr. Bounds recognizes Bridges for “Providing the opportunity for student success through development of the Choices™ software and through its partnership with MDE and Education Services Foundation in making the software available for all Mississippi students.”
In 2004, ESF granted a license to all public schools in Mississippi for Bridges’ Internet-based Choices Planner for education and career planning, which was an expansion from an existing CD product that had been in the state since 1986. Available anytime, anywhere online, students can explore career and educational opportunities, develop career pathways, perform college searches and applications, complete scholarship and financial aid applications, search for jobs, create resumes, enhance interview techniques and work on their portfolios at home or at school. In turn, tutorials are offered to school officials, empowering them to get the best use out of Choices Planner with their students. Each year, more and more students are seeing the value from career planning.
